Troubleshooting

  • In club to upload your last grades to Quest, you need access to "Faculty Center" in Quest (all instructors should have access).

  • Grade changes during the final class submission period:
    • To update an INC grade to a numeric course, re-upload your grades (with whatever INCs changed to the assigned numeric grade) to Quest.
    • To update/change a previously submitted numeric grade, re-upload your grades (with revised grades) to Quest.
  • Class changes subsequently the last course submission period:
    • To update an INC form to a numeric grade:
      • Undergraduate studies: Send the revised grade information to your section.
      • Graduate studies: Complete a Form Revision Form (PDF).
    • To update/change a previously submitted numeric form, send the revised form information to your department.

Fix your roster for upload

Make certain:

  • Yous take an upward-to-date class roster at your disposal. View instructions to download your class roster.
  • Grades are assigned to the correct student. The names on a LEARN class roster may be displayed in a different society than the Quest roster used to upload grades.
  • In that location are no blank grades.
  • Numeric grade values are 0 to 100, without decimals.
  • Entered grades lucifer the course's grading ground, i.e., a grading basis of NUM must have a form entry of 0 to 100; a grading ground of CNC must take a grade entry of CR or NCR.
  • Y'all have entered only allowed non-numeric (alpha) grades, and in upper-instance characters: CR, DNW, IP, NCR, NMR.
    • Note: You may NOT submit the following grades: AEG, AUD, FTC, MM, NG, UR, WD, WF.
      • Grades of WD or WF: If you meet these on your roster, no action is required and no course change volition be permitted. They are assigned if a student withdrew from the course after specific drib deadlines.
      • Grade of UR: Leave the grade blank and disregard the subsequent error stating that "this grade is not a valid entry". It is assigned by the Registrar'southward Office or Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs post-obit directions of the Associate Dean.
      • Grade of AUD: Exit the grade blank and disregard the subsequent error stating that "this grade is not a valid entry". Information technology is assigned by the Registrar'south Office or Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Diplomacy following directions of the teacher. If yous wish to submit a grade of AUD, or if a student has failed this audited course, please transport an e-mail message to rogrades@uwaterloo.ca with the following information:
        • Educatee name and ID number.
        • Course details: subject, catalog number, and section number.
        • Indicate that the student should receive an AUD, or indicate that the pupil failed the audit.

Instructions

  1. Sign in to Quest.
  2. Select the Upload Grades tile.

  3. Select the Stride 1 of 4 link - Select a Grades File to upload .

  4. Search for the advisable .csv file using Choose File and and then select Upload .

  5. An Upload Successful notation should appear at the bottom of the folio.

  6. Select the Step ii of 4 link - Process the Grades file .

  7. The "Pre-Edits" page is used for reviewing your uploaded grades file. Yous can review transactions by type (accepted, failed, all) by selecting the desired filter using the Filter Results Past drop-downwardly list.
  8. When you're ready to submit the grades, select Submit this Grades file. You'll receive the showtime of two automatic notification of grade submission email messages. Yous'll also see a "Submission Complete" screen, with a batch number, letting y'all know that the submission is complete. Y'all can select Upload My Final Grades to upload another grade roster.

  9. In one case your grades have been posted on Quest, you'll receive a second "notification of grade action" email message. With this second email message, a grade roster will exist attached with the grades that you've submitted. Open the attachment to verify your submission.

Accepted transactions

A checkmark in the "Accepted" column on the left indicates that the course has been accepted. An unmarked checkbox indicates an mistake (see Failed transactions below).

An unmarked checkbox indicates an error. Refer to the "Letters" column to review the error and click on the link to place a solution.

Fault messages

Select Return to return to the "Pre-Edits" folio. And so select Submit this Grades file (volition submit all successful transactions) or select Cancel and Re-Submit (will not mail service successful transactions). You can upload your terminal grades until yous're able to submit your grades file successfully.

Resolving error messages
Go back to your original saved data file to adjust your grades (current grading arrangement). If you have error(southward) that you can't resolve, send an electronic mail message to rogrades@uwaterloo.ca.

Possible reasons for errors and the solutions

Error Solution
You are trying to submit a grade for a pupil that is not properly registered in your form. Generate a new grade roster to verify that the pupil is no longer registered in your form.
The grade is bare. Enter a form.
The grade contains a decimal point. Remove the decimal. For example, change 67.8 to 68.
The grade value is greater than 100. Choose a class between 0 and 100.
The grading basis for this pupil does non match the entry; it isouthward plant on your downloaded Class Roster. A grading basis of NUM must have a grade entry of 0 to 100.
A grading basis of CNC must have a course entry of CR or NCR. Annotation: All alpha characters must be upper case.
You lot may not submit the following grades: AUD, AEG, FTC, MM, NG, UR, WD, WF Leave the class bare and disregard the subsequent error stating that "this form is non a valid entry."
